Fire Fighting and Rescue Demonstration held at Silicon Steel Mill of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant

A Fire Fighting and Rescue Demonstration was held at Silicon Steel Mill of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) on 15th April to mark the observance of Fire Services Week. Mr. Subrat Kumar, CGM (Hot Strip Mill-1 ,CRM, SSM, PP & RS), Mr. Nihar Ranjan Das, GM I/c (CRM), Mr. Chittaranjan Misra, GM I/c (Silicon Steel Mill) and Mr. J.B.Pattnaik, GM(Fire Services) along with many other senior officers and a large number of employees from the Department were present on the occasion.
During the awareness programme the employees were informed about various fire fighting and rescue techniques as well as the use and application of different fire fighting equipments. The demonstration was conducted by the team of Fire Services team led by Mr. J.B.Pattnaik, General Manager, Fire Services.
It is also noteworthy that such mock fire and safety drills are organised by Fire Service Department in different units of RSP from time to time to ensure high level of preparedness for tackling any eventuality. The programme was coordinated by Mr. S.Sahoo, Asst. Manager, Fire Services.
