The First Ultra-Filtration Drinking Water Unit – ‘Trupti’ inaugurated at Rourkela Steel Plant

The first ultra-filtration drinking water unit of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant-“Trupti” installed at Hot Strip Mill-2 was inaugurated by Mr. S R Suryawanshi, ED (Works) on 8th May 2023. Present on the occasion were Mr. Debabrata Dutta, CGM In-Charge (Services), Mr. I Rajan, CGM In-Charge (CO-CCD, U&E), Mr. Atish Chandra Sarkar, CGM(Quality), Mr. M K Mohanty, CGM(Electrical), Mr. Kausik Kumar Sengupta, CGM(Computer & Info. Tech), Mr. Birendra Kullu, CGM (Personnel & Admn.), several other Senior Officers, employees of HSM-2 and associated departments, as well as representatives of Executive Association and Trade Unions of RSP.
While addressing the gathering, Mr. Suryawanshi stressed upon following effective maintenance practices for maintaining quality of the drinking water in Rourkela Steel Plant. He also congratulated all the associated agencies involved in establishing the ultra-filtration unit. During the function ED (Works) felicitated Mr. Rasal Soreng, OCT (HSM-2) , for suggesting the name “Trupti.
Notably the ultra-filtration drinking water unit has an installed capacity to purify 1000 litres of water per hour and has a storage capacity of 5000 litres of purified water. The facility will cater to the quality drinking water requirement of employees, contract workers, vendors, suppliers and other agencies working at HSM-2.The water is purified following five stage purification process. The ultra filtration unit provides water with the desired norms by consuming less power and wasting very less water.
The system was installed by the HSM -2 department in collaboration with Civil Engineering Services, Water Management and Shops departments. At the outset Mr. R K Muduli, CGM(HSM-2) welcomed the gathering. The programme was coordinated by Mr. Anup Agarwal, Manager (HSM-2) and Mr.Sanjib Kumar Behera, Manager(Personnel) with the help of Mr. Manoj Kumar Patro, Asst Manager (Personnel).
